Devin Smith DVM
Dr. Devin Smith is our newest addition at Ridge Road Animal Hospital after graduating from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2016. She was raised in a small town outside of Waco, TX and attended Texas A&M University for her undergraduate degree where she was granted early acceptance to veterinary school as a junior in the biomedical science program.
From a very young age, Dr. Smith told her parents she would grow up to become a veterinarian. She grew up with a multitude of dogs, birds, and other small exotics. In college, she worked as an intern at the Henry Doorly Zoo with lemurs and also worked part-time at a local aviary in College Station where she developed a further love for large parrots. During veterinary school, she even got the chance to go to Peru and study large macaws for two weeks in the Amazon rainforest. Dr. Smith is passionate about animal education and promoting a love of science in young children, so she spent her summers in veterinary school traveling around Texas doing presentations for zoos, animal shelters, and other various kids camps.
Now that Dr.Smith is out in the real world, she is learning what is like to have hobbies and enjoys spending time reading, exploring the North Texas area, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with her furry companions. She has a lovely rescued English Setter named Annie, a red long-haired tabby named Posie, and a recently acquired red tabby kitten named Rorie. She is passionate about surgery, exotic medicine, emergency medicine, and internal medicine, especially cardiology. She is so thrilled to finally be a practicing veterinarian and looks forward to building lasting relationships with our clients and their beloved animal companions.
Mike Sealock DVM
Dr. Sealock received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. He has since worked to improve the quality of many pets’ lives. His devotion to the care of animals led him to Rockwall, Texas in 1991 where he then opened Ridge Road Animal Hospital. Thanks to a dedicated staff and loyal clients, Dr. Sealock was able to move into a new, more spacious facility in February of 2003. This site offers clients a convenient location, as well as the opportunity to provide expanded health care services. Dr. Sealock is assisted by a knowledgeable and devoted staff whose compassion for animals exceeds all others.
In his free time, he and his wife are busy traveling to Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma State University where their two daughters are attending college. Dr Sealock also attends various continuing education seminars, most recently the The Canine Seminar at TA&M College of Veterinary Medicine and will attend the Fall Veterinary Conference at OSU College of Veterinary Medicine where he will celebrate his 30 year graduation from The Veterinary College. He also enjoys the Japanese martial art practice of Aikido, and camping, hiking, and fishing.
Samantha joined our team in August 2015. She is an energetic compassionate person, loves all animals, and is eager to learn new things! Sam is currently going to school to get her veterinary technician license and has excelled rapidly in her time here. Her favorite thing about being a technician is walking into the unexpected everyday. She is engaged to be married and has 3 dogs, Jake, Elroy, and Izzy that keep her busy when she’s not at work.
Most of you will recognize Heather as the bright, smiling face that use to greet you when you first walk into Ridge Road Animal Hospital and has since become one of our beloved Veterinary Technicians. Growing up in Rockwall and Midland, Heather definitely has a heart the size of Texas and a kindness towards both people and animals that we guarantee will warm yours!
Prior to joining our hospital and the veterinary profession in April, 2013, Heather raised two beautiful children, Logan and Peyton, while working as a substitute teacher in their school district. Heather and her husband, Jeremy, also have two spazz-tastic fur-babies, Bentley and Tux.
Heather explains that she has always felt a special love for animals and can recount a story from elementary school about wanting to be a veterinarian when she grew up. She believes animals are one of life’s most precious gifts and feels truly blessed that she has been given any opportunity to pursue one of her dreams of working with animals.
After work, you will often find Heather attending any number of her kids’ activities, ranging from football and volleyball…practices, games and tournaments. When time permits, she enjoys shopping, going out to eat, listening to music, visiting family and traveling (cruises-YES!).
Jessica grew up in Dallas and moved to Rockwall in 2006 where she attended and graduated from Rockwall High School. She is relatively new to the veterinary field, but loves it! Prior to joining Ridge Road Animal Hospital in May 2015, Jessica worked in retail an customer service with various stores. Now, she cannot imagine herself anywhere outside of the veterinary field where she has been given the opportunity to work so closely with animals.
Jessica has two daughters, Mia age 3 and Sophia age 5, and they are her world! They have recently added two new members to the family, two kittens named Oliver and Shadow. Although Ollie and Shadow live to cuddle, they have opposite personality traits, making daily life a blast! When Jessica is not working, she loves to spend time with her family, baking sweets, and cheering on her Dallas Mavericks!
Megan hails from the capitol of the Lone Star State but luckily chose Mesquite to settle with her young family. She joined our team in November, 2012 as a veterinary technician with ten years of veterinary experience already on her resume. In addition, Megan is a whiz with computers so when she is not assisting in surgery or exams, she makes sure Ridge Road keeps up with the technological times! She was promoted to manager in September 2014 but still assists the doctors and technicians as often as possible.
As a small child in Austin, Megan was inspired to save animals by her neighbor that was a veterinarian. The compassion he showed when he euthanized her childhood dog made a lasting impression on her. Her beautiful daughter Selene who is now 8 plans to be a pediatrician when she grows up. She enjoys playing soccer, going to school and playing with her dogs. Not to be outdone, her adorable son Draven loves all creatures at the tender age of 6 and is planning to be a Veterinarian. He enjoys coming up to the clinic and helping out with cleaning and watching surgeries. Her family also consists of Odin, a Golden retriever/Rottweiler mix that is now 2 years old. He is full of love and energy and is very protective of his family. They also have a few new additions: Loki, a 4 month old Old English Boxer that is absolutely adorable and affectionate but also already very protective of his family, and two kittens, Hulk Smash and Zombie Dorian, who bring a whole new meaning to the word “rascals!”
Megan enjoys live concerts and the outdoors, whether it is camping out with the family or just a nice long walk. They enjoy going to the movies and playing video games on those rainy days. They plan to travel in the future and will soon be moving away from Mesquite to the outlying countryside near Rockwall.
Head Kennel Technician
After graduating from Rockwall-Heath High School in 2012, Brittany started working at the Rockwall Animal Shelter where she discovered her true passion for animals. Within three years Brittany worked her way up to kennel team lead. Of course, she took care of cats and dogs, but she also cared for the occasional opossum, raccoon, goat, duck, bunny, and chicken. In June of 2016, Brittany left the shelter to pursue a position at an animal care center in McKinney that specialized in Eastern Veterinary medicine. During the year she worked in McKinney, she observed animal acupuncture and learned about various herbal medications and how they can be used alongside Western Medicine.
In October 2016, Brittany joined our team with a craving to learn more about caring for exotics. When she is not busy making friends with birds and lizards, she is helping assist the other technicians in their everyday activities.
In the future, she plans to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Zoology to become a Zookeeper.
Born and raised in Dallas, Kirsten joined our team in 2014 as a receptionist with very little veterinary knowledge. Priding herself on quickly learning, she caught on very fast! Kirsten thoroughly enjoys working at Ridge Road, because she is passionate about assisting others and loves that she can interact with both the animals and their parents!
Kirsten attends The University of Texas at Dallas, where she works on her graduate studies in Healthcare Management. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in May 2017 and will receive her Master’s with a Healthcare Informatics Certification in May 2018.
When she isn’t at work or school, Kirsten is either home with her family and two dogs, Jagger and Rigby, trying out a new restaurant with friends, or traveling to new places. She has a serious case of the travel bug, and enjoys camping, spending time outdoors, fishing, scuba diving, and working out. We’re not sure how she manages it all, but staying busy keeps her sane!
Moomba the Cat Sealock
“Moomba” first came to us in October 2007. He was a little stray kitten that had been injured and a kind soul delivered him to our doorstep. At first glance, his odds seemed slim but to our surprise, a little pain medicine, a few good meals and a large serving of TLC was just what Moomba needed to spring back to life! Moomba gave us all a scare a little while ago with some major health issues but has finally returned to his old self!
Although grumpy at times, Moomba is very much loved here and is one of the family. He enjoys lounging around the clinic and will sometimes allow some petting, but beware if he’s not in the mood he will definitely let you know and not in a nice way! He is not fond of other cats so always be sure you bring your cats in a carrier, which is required anyway for your pets safety. Moomba is a spoiled kitty that will only drink out of the sink and will patiently wait next to the faucet until he gets serviced.
Ziggy Bob Thornton
Ziggy Bob here from the land Down Under, and I am stoked to share a little bit about myself. I blessed Ridge Road with my presence in October 2016, and although they named me after a bloke when I’m in fact a sheila, I have had an ace time here so far!
I love to play with my tucker (food) especially when the crickets run away from me. I also enjoy looking at my reflection, going rock climbing, and having stare competitions.
When you stop by the hospital, ask to pet me and one of my mates will pull me out if they have a fair go (chance). I know I look pointy and scary, but give it a burl because I love the attention.
Dallas born and bred, Jesse joined the Ridge Road family in July 2017. He first started working in customer service until he decided to work and care for animals as an animal care attendant at City Vet in 2015. He moved to Greenville Texas in early 2017, and started working as a Veterinary Technician at Rockwall Veterinary Hospital. This allowed him to grow and utilize his new veterinary skills. He joined Ridge Road to expand his knowledge in veterinary medicine, assisting in surgery, and handling exotics.
Jesse loves reptiles and dogs. He recently adopted an English bulldog pup named Taz for “Tasmanian Devil.” In Jesse’s free time, he loves to spend time with his son Leo and girlfriend Alexis. He enjoys cookouts, hanging out with friends, and watching football. Sadly, Jesse isn’t a Cowboys fan and is a hard core New England Patriots fan. (We are working on that) Jesse loves the staff & doctors here at Ridge Road and says he found a second home.
When you visit, ask Jesse if he’ll grab Ziggy Bob for you to pet!
Amber joined us in November 2015 after making a drastic career change so that she could do something she loved. She started out as a kennel technician and quickly excelled into the veterinary technician role. Amber is passionate about her new career and loves helping sick animals feel better. She has learned so much in the last 11 months and is happy to be able to work with all of your fur babies!
She studies at Eastfield College and plans to transfer Spring of 2018 to A&M to attain a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Amber and her six year old Gavin enjoy playing “Superheroes” and the video game Skylanders. She has two other babies (with fur): Ellie, who is terrified of everything and hops like a kangaroo, and Gracie, who thinks she is a Princess!
When Amber finds spare time, she enjoys drawing, painting, and spending time with her son Gavin and boyfriend Adam.
Sabrina joined the team in August 2017. She grew up in Rockwall, TX and graduated from Rockwall Heath High School. Sabrina has always been extremely passionate about animals. In fact, Sabrina always told her parents she would grow up to be a veterinarian, because she wanted save every animal.
Though Sabrina’s plans shifted as she got older, she never strayed from the path of working with animals. Sabrina now intends to open up boarding and rescue facilities. Sabrina attends Collin College where she studies animals and their behaviors and plans to become a certified vet assistant. She hopes that her certification will allow her future clients to feel comfortable leaving their babies to board at her facility, knowing they will be taken care of and loved.
Sabrina attributes her love for animals to her first dog, a Chihuahua Dachshund mix named Lucky. Lucky was the greatest best friend a girl could ever ask for, and she is the reason Sabrina’s house will always be full of fur-babies. When Sabrina is not wrestling her 7 dogs and 3 cats, you can find her out on the dance floor with her gal pals, outdoors, or at the gym.
